CLASSIFICATIONS OF CLAY BRICK PAVERS
SABS 1575 defines two classes of clay pavers, namely PA and PB.
• Recommended application for Paver class
PA – Hard landscaping, footpaths, pedestrian areas, patios, and pool surrounds, car parks, driveways to private house, lorry parks, petrol station forecourts, factory yard areas and residential roads.
PB – Hard landscaping, footpaths, pedestrian areas, patios, and pool surrounds, car parks and driveways to private houses.
• Typical methods of construction (Patterns)
PA – Flexible paving in all patterns. Rigid paving in stretcher & running bond.
PB – Flexible and Rigid paving in stretcher and running bond only.

Warpage
Class PA pavers are required to have a warpage not exceeding 3 mm.
Class PB pavers are required to have a warpage not exceeding 4 mm.
PA PAVERS - Nutmeg, Champagne, Burgundy, Cederberg, Tuscan Blend and all the Variation Pavers.
PB PAVERS – Arizona Blend, Palamino, Dusky Satin, Sabrix, Mahonie, Shiraz, Townhouse Range, Kopani Satin and all semi-face bricks that may be recommended for paving applications.
